NJ Transit officials are investgiating a train strike that left a trespasser dead on the track in Monmouth County on Wednesday night.
According to Spokeswoman Klay Thompson, it happened at around 9:40 p.m. in Holmdel when a male trespasser entered the tracks at the Centerville Road Crossings and was killed by the oncoming NJ Transit North Jersey Coast Line train number 3284.
Thompson said the train left Long Branch at 9:12 and was expected to reach NY Penn Station at 10:49 p.m.
Officials suspended train service while authorities conducted the investigation. There were no injuries to 70 passengers and crew onboard the train according to officials.
NJ Transit officials said North Jersey Coast Line rail service resumed between Matawan and Long Branch in both directions following the trespasser fatality.
