A Mercer County grand jury returned an indictment last week charging a 42-year-old Trenton man with the September 2017 murder of Tyrone King, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported.
Officials said Wade Williams was indicted on one count of first-degree murder, one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and one count of second-degree certain persons not to possess a firearm. He remains in the Mercer County Correction Center.
According to authorities, at approximately 11:30 a.m. on September 17, 2017, Trenton police responded to the 900 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard on a report of shots fired.
Upon arrival, they located King unresponsive and bleeding from his chest on the floor of a deli. EMS transported him to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
An investigation by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department resulted in charges against Williams, who was arrested in December 2017 by MCHTF officers and the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Despite having been indicted, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
