Authorities placed a 23-year-old under arrest and charged him with the May 2nd murder of Mr. Javier Morales, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported.
According to a statement released by officials, Iziah Perkins, of Monmouth Street, Trenton, is charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Officials say Perkins is being held at the Mercer County Correction Center pending a detention hearing on May 15.
Authorities captured Perkins on Friday, May 10th at an apartment in Trenton by the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force.
The charges are the result of an investigation by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force.
Police say at approximately 5:10 p.m. on May 2, Trenton police responded to a call for shots fired in the area of Hudson and Pearl streets.
Upon arrival, police located Javier Morales unresponsive and suffering a gunshot wound.
EMA transported Morales to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a a short time later officials said.
Despite having been charged, all persons are presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
