A woman was severely injured after being hit by a train at a platform in Morristown, New Jersey, Saturday night.
NJ Transit officials have confirmed the accident, which has left the victim in a serious condition, necessitating a possible amputation.
Emergency responders were called to the scene just before 7:40 pm following reports of a pedestrian struck by a train.
Upon arrival, they found the woman on the train platform, suffering from severe leg injuries.
She was immediately transported to Morristown Medical Center for urgent treatment.
Due to the severity of the incident, NJ Transit police initiated a delay on the Morris & Essex Line to facilitate a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
No other injuries were reported.
