A severe collision involving multiple vehicles occurred this morning at the intersection of Route 1 and Ridge Road in South Brunswick, resulting in three fatalities and sparking a subsequent vehicle fire.
Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and the South Brunswick Police Department are investigating the incident that took place at around 9:36 a.m.
Authorities arrived on the scene to find a catastrophic scenario where a tractor-trailer had collided with a van.
The initial impact caused the van to then hit two other vehicles. In the chaos that followed, both the tractor-trailer and the van caught fire.
Three individuals involved in the accident were pronounced dead at the scene.
Their identities have not yet been released, as officials are in the process of notifying their families.
The crash has prompted a comprehensive investigation, with local law enforcement seeking assistance from the public.
