TRAFFIC ALERT: Police Close Route 3 in Both Directions After Truck Crash, Explodes in Clifton

At approximately 9 am Monday morning, emergency responders were dispatched to the eastbound lanes of Route 3 near Grove Street in Clifton after receiving reports of a crash.Ad

Upon arrival, police and firefighters found a truck heavily engulfed in flames after it had struck the right-side barrier wall.

While on the scene, firefighters had to take cover as the truck suddenly exploded, causing some of its contents to strike nearby fire trucks.

Crash Police subsequently closed all lanes of the highway, and some homes in the area were reportedly evacuated as a precaution.

Responders on the scene believe the truck was carrying explosive materials, but there has been no confirmation from Clifton Police at this time.

The eastbound section of Route 3 is expected to remain closed for an extended period for cleanup and investigation.Ad

Fortunately, no serious injuries have been reported at this time.

The public is advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
