The last nearly 14 years of our marriage have been comprised of ALL kinds of transitions.
Not every transition is the same.
Before diving in, let's start with a definition so we're on the same page.
According to Miriam Webster's dictionary:
Transition: a change or shift from one state, subject, place, etc., to another.
Transitions as marriedpreneurs can carry different meanings based on what's happening in life. For example, some common types are:
- Relocation transitions
- Job transitions
- Family expansion transitions
But there are other transition types that we just as common but often not addressed until it becomes an extreme need. Here are a few transition types that, if not addressed, can be caustic on a marriedpreneur journey.
- New perspective transitions: New perspectives can alter how you work on a project, and if/when that project is not a priority or more, it can cause friction
- Transition of emotional/mental state: Reaching a breaking point without awareness leads to breakdowns
- Transition of expectations: New ones gone unspoken can bring havoc and confusion.
- Transition of priorities: When you've always focused on one primary goal and then it switches, without a conversation, you rod your spouse the opportunity to grow with you through the change and support along the way
These are just a few of the common transitions that occur in marriage and business, that when one spouse is not intentional about updating each other, it can feel like a blindsided, even if that wasn't the intention.
We are constantly making decisions and becoming better versions of ourselves–but that doesn't just happen in a silo when you're a marriedpreneur couple.
It requires more than most, but the rewards are worth it. Peace, friendship, clarity, and understanding are priceless.
If you're a marriedpreneur couple seeking to build peaceably through these different trainings, consider doing routine legacy meetings that create a sacred space to update each other before implosions occur. If you need a framework to follow, you can use ours here.
Here's to living purposefully, powerfully, and profitably in sync,
