Tips Lead to Arrest of Toms River Bank Robbery Suspect

Tips from the public helped police catch a man sought in connection to yesterday's bank robbery in Toms River.

Within hours of releasing surveillance images, tips started pouring in. After a positive identification was made, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Angelo Grenci, 39, of Berkley Township.

An overnight manhunt ensued, which culminated in his capture at the Friendly’s restaurant, located at 981 Route 37 West, after a tipster reported that Grenci would be at the restaurant at 9 this morning.

Upon arrival, police located Grenci, who was siting alone in a booth.

Grenci who was in possession of a large knife was taken into custody without incident, according to police.

Chief Mitchell A. Little said, “We would like to thank the media and the followers of our police Facebook page for having the willingness to getting involved.” “These partnerships are yielding results greater than we could have imagined just a few short years ago."

Grenci is being held on $110,000 bail for the bank robbery.

Additional charges were lodged for possession of a weapon and the use of the false name.
