Tinton Falls Man Arrested for Filming Incident in Wayne Department Store Restroom

Wayne police officers responded to a JCPenney department store after receiving reports of a man allegedly filming another individual in the restroom.AdOfficers Anthony Halko, John Nielsen, and Sergeant John Culic investigated the incident and arrested 35-year-old Richard Jones-Johnson Jr. of Tinton Falls on charges of Third-Degree Invasion of Privacy.  

According to information provided by Wayne authorities, the victim reported that while using a bathroom stall, a cell phone appeared under the front door of the stall with its camera active and pointing toward him.

The victim stated that after making noise to alert the individual, the phone was removed but soon reappeared under the dividing wall from the adjacent stall.  

The victim confronted the suspect, who was holding the immediate deletion of the video, which the suspect complied with.

During questioning, Jones-Johnson claimed he had been reaching for a dropped vape and unintentionally activated his phone's camera.   AdFollowing the investigation, Jones-Johnson was arrested and charged with Third-Degree Invasion of Privacy. He was released in accordance with Bail Reform guidelines.
