Three-Truck Crash Closes Routes 1&9 in Rahway

A three-truck crash caused a portion of Routes 1&9 in Rahway to close late this morning, according to police.

According to police a crane truck rammed into a box truck that was stopped a red light on the northbound lane shortly before 11a.m., police said.

The chain-reaction crash then caused the box truck to strike a water-delivery truck that was at the light, police added.

As a result of hydraulic fluid spill from the crane truck the county hazmat team responded to the scene for cleanup.

The box truck's contents also spilled across the road, according to police. 

The crane truck driver was transported to area hospital for evaluation. The driver of the box truck  was taken to the hospital for a complaint of back injuries.

The driver of the water truck was unharmed and truck suffered minor damage. 

The road which was closed for several hours from East Grand to East Milton Avenue reopened sometime around 2:30 p.m., according to police.
