Congratulations to the University High School Phoenix for successfully capturing the NJSIAA Group 1 State Championship on Sunday afternoon.
The Phoenix routed Paulsboro by a score of 63-45 in front of a large crowd at The Rack in Piscataway.
The state championship win brings three state championships to The City of Newark and the second to University High School.
All in the same day as The Lady Phoenix captured a championship earlier Sunday in Toms River.
West Side High School also captured a state championship after a 58 year drought on Sunday.
