Three men have been arrested and charged in connection with the murder of Cumberland County Detective Sergeant Monica Mosley during an armed home invasion. In addition, a woman has been charged with obstruction, hindering, and tampering with evidence in relation to the case.
Nyshawn Mutcherson, 29, of Vineland, Jarred D. Brown, 31, of Bridgeton, and Richard B. Hawkins Willis, 32, of Gloucester City, are charged in the Oct. 15 shooting.
The arrests were made after a collaborative investigation led by the New Jersey State Police Major Crimes Unit and the Bridgeton Police Department Criminal Investigations Bureau.
The FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the U.S. Marshals also provided assistance in the investigation.
One of the suspects had been released from custody in July after serving a three-year sentence for aggravated assault and obstruction related to a domestic violence case.
According to a statement released by the New Jersey State Policemen’s Benevolent Association (PBA), President Peter Andreyev expressed gratitude for the hard work of law enforcement involved in the case, saying, "I want to thank the tireless efforts of all the detectives, officers, and troopers involved with tracking down her killer. We want justice. This is step one."
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to bring those responsible to justice.
