Authorities in Union County announced that three men were indicted for a string of robberies and a carjacking carried out in both Union and Essex Counties beginning last December.
According to officials, Isaiah Barrett, 33 of Elizabeth, Alfred Pierre, 37 of Roselle and Daron Thomas, 32 of East Orange were charged in four separate indictments encompassing 56 counts, including several counts of first-degree robbery, first-degree carjacking, and first-degree firearms possession.
Officials say Barrett, Pierre, and Thomas embarked on a month-long spree beginning on December 15, 2022, in Roselle, according to Union County Assistant Prosecutor Melissa Caparruva, who is prosecuting the case.
They soon thereafter committed robberies on December 26th in Linden, January 2nd in Elizabeth, and January 4th in Orange.
According to authorities, on January 8th in Linden, Barrett and Thomas committed both a robbery and a carjacking, Caparruva added.
The intensive investigation that followed led to the identification of the three and their subsequent arrest in April. They remain incarcerated in the Essex County Jail pending their formal arraignment on the charges in July.
“I want to assure the public that the Union County Prosecutor’s Office and our partner law enforcement agencies remain committed to tirelessly pursuing those who threaten the safety and security of the communities we serve”, Daniel stated.
