Three Charged for Fatal Shooting of Jersey City Resident

Authorities in Hudson County announced that the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit has arrested three individuals in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Jersey City on Friday, May 10.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said Makiyy Randolph, 21, of Paterson, is charged with Murder, Felony Murder, Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

Officials stated he was arrested on Friday, July 12, 2024, on Gates Avenue in Jersey City after a brief foot pursuit.

Randolph was additionally charged with Obstruction and Resisting Arrest by Flight, officials said.

According to officials, he is currently being detained at the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

Officials say a 14-year-old female and a 16-year-old male are charged as juveniles with Murder, Felony Murder, Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

Both juveniles were arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus on Thursday, July 11, authorities say.

Juvenile matters are confidential, and no additional information can be released at this time, officials stated.

Officials said on Friday, May 10, shortly before 10 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of Pearsall Avenue and Garfield Avenue.

Responding officers located a male victim – later identified as Resheed Wallace, 24, of Jersey City – with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body, according to officials. 

He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 10:25 p.m., officials say. 

Officials stated the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the Cause of Death to be a Gunshot Wound to the Upper Body and the Manner to be Homicide.
