Newark Police are reporting the arrest of Victor Pereira, Ana Paula Narciso, and Milena A. Barbosa fot operating illegal liquor establishments yesterday in the city.
According to police, in response to complaints by concerned citizens, detectives of Newark Police Division’s Special Enforcement Bureau responded to Portugal USA Soccer Club, located at 303 Lafayette Street.
Police observed six illegal gambling machines, 225 assorted beers and 22 assorted bottles of alcoholic beverages at the location authorities said.
Police arrested Pereira and Narciso, seizing $323.00.
Authorities charged Pereira with Maintaining an Illegal Alcohol Establishment, Unlawful Possession of Alcohol and Possession of a Gambling Device.
Authorities charged Narciso (not pictured) with Aiding an Illegal Alcohol Operation.
Detectives also responded to the Zig-Zag Café, located at 84 Monroe Street, in response to citizen complaints.
Officers observed five illegal gambling machines, 163 assorted beers and 26 assorted bottles of alcoholic beverages.
Police seized $332.00 at this location authorities said.
Police charged Milena A. Barbosa with Maintaining an Illegal Alcohol Establishment, Unlawful Possession of Alcohol and Possession of a Gambling Device.
These charges are merely accusations.
Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
