An early morning fire that ripped through a house in Kearny is under investigation.
Firefighters responded to the 100 block of Laurel Ave. shortly before 2 a.m. for reports of a house that was up in flames at that location.
Upon arrival to the scene, crews observed heavy fires coming from the roof of a multi-family house at 199 Laurel Ave.
At least one person managed to escape the burning house without injury.
Mutual assistance from Harrison, Belleville, Jersey City, and North Arlington assisted in extinguishing the blaze that still has some hot spots as of 4 a.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
