A three-alarm fire that destroyed several homes in Newark has fire officials investigating.
The were no injuries reported in the blaze that ignited inside a two and a half story home located in the 90's block of Grand Avenue in Newark's West Ward fire officials said.
Heavy fire ripped through 96 Grand Avenue shortly before 4 a.m. then quickly spread the two other homes causing extensive damage officials said.
Crews battled through severe flames and thick smoke to bring the blaze under control in about an hour.
About a dozen residents were displaced and provided temporary shelter.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
