A 3-alarm blaze rip through a two-story house in Plainfield and extended to at least one other late last night.
The Plainfield Fire Department responded to 640 East 2nd Street at around 2 a.m. for a reported house fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters found flames blazing from all sides of the two and a half story house. Crews quickly advanced through the front door where heavy fire conditions were encountered by the suppression crew.
Heavy fire quickly extended to 634 East 2nd Street where firefighters began to focused their attention on an exterior attack.
Once the majority of the flames were darkened, firefighters continued to chase fire in void spaces before the fire was placed under control at around 4 a.m.
Firefighters remained on scene for an extended period of time conducting overhaul and extinguishing hot spots throughout. Only one of the houses appeared to be occupied according to fire officials.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
There were no injuries reported.
