Kearny Firefighters were assisted by several fire companies in battling a multi-alarm fire that tore through a house in Kearny late Monday night.
It happened at approximately 9:20 p.m. at 574 Devon Street where firefighters arrived to find heavy flames and thick smoke on the first and second floors of a wood-framed house upon their arrival according to fire officials.
Firefighters struck a second, then third alarm when the flames became very intense and began to spread to neighboring residences.
It took crews on the scene of the blaze over two hours to bring the fire under control with a search of the structure coming back negative for trapped or injured occupants.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
