Firefighters in Union County battled a three-alarm fire that broke out in businesses in Linden on Tuesday night.
According to preliminary reports, firefighters were called to the vicinity of 8:32 East St. Georges Avenue after receiving reports of a fire inside a furniture store at around 8:45 a.m.
Crews arrived at the scene and found heavy smoke coming from the store that was closed for business at that location.
Firefighters were able to find the seat of the fire and began to attack the blaze after creating a hole in the roof.
A search of the building indicated no trapped or injured occupants according to fire officials on the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
