Threat Made on Social Media Targeting Three Newark Schools Under Investigation

Newark Police are investigating threats made against several local high schools that surfaced on social media on Thursday.

The post, which features an image of a handgun, has been widely circulated and shared thousands of times, causing some alarm among students, parents and staff throughout the City of Newark.AdThe threatening message specifically named Newark Central High School, Newark Collegiate Academy, and KIPP Newark Lab High School and included times ranging from 3 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. when alleged violence was supposed to occur.

The post also warned, "Y'all need to be aware if y'all go to these schools."

The Newark Police Department is leading the investigation, though it remains unclear if the threat is credible at this time.

Authorities are taking the matter seriously and have increased security measures around the mentioned schools.

The incident is under active investigation, and no arrests have been made as of yet.AdParents and students are urged to remain observant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
