People's Preparatory Charter in Newark was closed today following a threat to the school, officials said.
According to Jessica Rooney, a school leader at the school, after being alerted of a potential threat against the school, officials took the decision to cancel classes today. The school is located on Bergen Street is housed in the old Camden Middle School building.
Rooney added, that between 9 or 10 p.m. last night, student's parents were advised of the situation and the decision to cancel classes today.
The school is working along with police as the incident is investigated
The threat according to Rooney, was appeared to be unfounded at this time but added police are still investigating.
Staff and administration reported to school for a normal day.
