Thieves Break Into Newark Business, Steals Lottery Scratch-Offs and Over $500 in Cash

Newark police are looking for two male suspects involved in a business burglary that occurred on Friday, July 19.AdAccording to Director Fragé, at approximately 1:30 a.m., two male suspects arrived at the front of a store in the 300 block of South Orange Avenue.

One suspect struck the business's camera with a stick, breaking it.

This suspect then walked away and returned a short time later with another male suspect.

At approximately 3:40 a.m., the two suspects returned to the business.

The first suspect broke a glass window and climbed into the store, where he stole scratch-off lottery tickets and $570 from the cash register.

The second suspect stood outside as a lookout during the burglary.

Detectives describe the first suspect as a Black male with a bald head, wearing a white shirt, gray sweatpants, black sneakers, and blue socks.

The second suspect is described as a Black male with a bald head, wearing a white shirt, blue jeans, and white sneakers, with a black fanny pack on his waist, and carrying a stick.AdDirector Fragé urges anyone with information regarding the identity of either suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
