Police in Jersey City are looking for thieves who stole over $1500 worth of merchandise from a department store in the city Wednesday.

According to Jersey City Spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione, at approximately 4:50 p.m., police were alerted of a robbery in progress at the Marshalls on NJ-440.

Upon arrival, Jersey City Police officers spoke with a store employee who stated that two suspects entered the establishment and filled laundry bags with store merchandise.

Spokeswoman Wallace-Scalcione said within two minutes after entering the store, the two assailants made their way toward the exit with approximately $1,700 in merchandise.

Police say the store employee attempted to stop one of the males, at which time the actor brandished a silver item that looked like a small blade before exiting the store.

No injuries or arrests were reported.

Spokeswoman Wallace-Scalcione said the investigation is ongoing.
