Irvington Township

The owner of a vehicle is asking the public's assistance locating a vehicle that was stolen while providing a jump start to another car on an Irvington Township Street on Friday evening.

Police were notified and took a report on the incident and are handling the investigation.

The owner of the vehicle told RLS Metro breaking News weekend crew that on Friday at approximately 5:44 p.m. -while providing an emergency vehicle jump start for a disabled car in the 800 block of Chancellor Avenue-, a suspect -possibly Hispanic male- approached then entered the vehicle that had the hood closed and the keys in the ignition during the conclusion of the jump start.

According to the owner, the suspect swiftly backed the vehicle out of the driveway then sped away with the owner attempting to chase on foot.

A video surveillance video provided to RLS Metro Breaking News does not show the suspect enter the vehicle but does reveal the car go into reverse then speed off with the owner attempting to chase the car on foot.

Irvington Police are now looking for a smokey gray 2010 BMW X5 with a NJ license plate number "K23-HMD".

There were no injuries reported according to the owner.
