Authorities in Newark need the public’s help in identifying the suspect, who took a victim’s cell phone from a fast food restaurant on January 13
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. stated that the victim, an employee at Chipotle on the 200 block of Market Street, set her phone down while mopping the floor.
As she cleaned, she left the restaurant door open when the suspect entered at approximately 11:32 p.m. and asked to use the bathroom, according to Newark officials.
Newark Police said the employee declined his request due to the slippery floor.
On his way out, officials say, he was captured on surveillance video taking the employee’s cell phone.
Director Miranda Sr. urges anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
