Newark detectives are actively investigating an armed carjacking that occurred in the city’s North Ward on Thanksgiving Day.
According to a preliminary investigation, the incident unfolded at approximately 2 p.m. on Sylvan Avenue.
Police were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a carjacking in progress.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim, who stated that the suspect had brandished a weapon before stealing their 2019 black Cadillac XTS.
The vehicle, bearing a New Jersey registration plate, G28UUL, was last believed to be traveling in parts of East Orange.
Fortunately, no physical injuries were reported during the incident.
Authorities are continuing their investigation, and no further details have been released at this time.
