At 4:30 a.m., Newark recorded a temperature of 46 degrees, likely the highest it will be all day as strong winds from a cold front move in, causing a significant drop in temperatures throughout the afternoon and evening.

Across the region, morning temperatures were:

  • Sussex County: 38°F
  • Morristown: 39°F
  • Prospect Park: 43°F
  • Irvington: 37°F
  • Edison: 37°F

While the morning may feel mild as residents head out to work, school, or the bus stop, conditions will shift dramatically by the afternoon, requiring extra layers to stay warm.

According to the National Weather Service, today will be mostly sunny, with temperatures peaking at 43 degrees by noon before steadily falling to around 38 degrees later in the day.

By tonight, increasing cloud cover will bring overnight lows down to 24 degrees.

Be prepared for the chillier conditions ahead, and enjoy your day in New Jersey!
