The son of a famous New Jersey DJ was among five juveniles killed in a high-speed collision in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Sunday.
According to a statement released from the Raleigh Police Department, the collision occurred on Capital Boulevard near Fairview Road at about 6:15 a.m. on Sunday.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and found a severely crashed vehicle with multiple victims trapped inside after the car struck a concrete wall at approximately 80 m.p.h.
Raleigh police said the out-of-control car was speeding downtown when it ran off the roadside of the road and struck a concrete bridge abutment.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they frantically put several tools to work in an effort to extricate the heavily trapped victims from the vehicle but Raleigh Police said all five people in the car died from their injuries.
According to New Jersey's DJ Lilman, one of the four victims pronounced dead was his 14-year-old son.
DJ Lilman said the following on Monday:
“It’s nothing I can write that can EXPRESS my EMOTIONS . My 14 year-old-son and 4 others were killed in a car crashed Last night”.
As of 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, police have not officially released a crash report or the names of those who died.
According to ABC11 News Raleigh, DJ Lilman's son was identified by his grandfather as Zymeer Dennis, who attended Wake Forest High School.
"Speed was a factor in the crash, and the vehicle was traveling at an estimated 80-85 m.p.h.
All of the victims were teenage boys; one 13-year-old, two were 14 and two were 17," Raleigh Police said.
Authorities have not confirmed if the car was reported stolen or if the victims were related at this time.
