Teen Boy Killed in Irvington Township Shooting

 Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Wednesday morning in Irvington, New Jersey, as announced by Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Irvington Public Safety Director Tracy Bowers.

At approximately 1:26 am on July 3, 2024, Irvington police officers responded to reports of a shooting in progress in the 1100 block of Grove Street. Fatal shooting Upon arrival, officers found a young male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  

The victim was rushed to University Hospital in Newark, where he was pronounced dead at 2:17 am.

The identity of the victim, a seventeen-year-old resident of Irvington, cannot be disclosed due to his age.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force, which includes detectives from the Irvington Police Department, is leading the investigation.  

The investigation remains active and ongoing, with no additional information available at this time.
