Authorities in Bergen County are reporting that a 16-year-old Demarest boy died after he jumped in front of a freight train early Wednesday morning.
According to CSX officials, the boy was struck by a northbound CSX train after reportedly laying across the tracks just south of the Haworth Avenue crossing at around 4:25 a.m.
Officials say the boy’s body was discovered several hours later by passerby's
Bergen County Medical Examiner's Office responded to the location and made the pronouncement.
The incident remains under investigation.
