Fire officials in Newark are looking into the cause of a fire that erupted at a catering hall in the city Saturday night.
About two dozen individuals attending a sweet 16 party ran from 583 Central Avenue after they observed flames beginning to tear through the rear of the structure around 7:20 p.m.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and observed heavy fire ripping through the back of the building, with fire beginning to extend to a multi-family building under construction.
Officials say crews stretched several lines and were able to knock the flames down just before 8 p.m.
Everyone made it out of the building without any injuries, officials said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
