Authorities in Hunterdon County are investigating a disturbing discovery at a cemetery, where parts of a human body were found late Wednesday evening.
The Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office has labeled the death suspicious and is actively working on the situation that happened at the Case Burial Ground on Bonnell Street.
Police were initially called to the cemetery sometime before 9 p.m. following reports of suspicious activities.
Upon arrival, officers secured the area, notably in the rear of the church within the cemetery, where they encountered a grim scene: body parts and blood-stained clothing adjacent to a woodchipper.
Detectives and medical personnel were promptly dispatched to the location. After a preliminary assessment, medical experts pronounced the death under suspicious circumstances.
The area around the discovery has been cordoned off as the investigation continues.
Details surrounding the identity of the deceased or how the body came to be in this condition have not been released as the investigation remains active.
