Police in Union and Essex counties are on the search for suspects wanted for an Elizabeth shooting and an overnight robbery in Newark's South Ward.
In the incident, at approximately 9:35 p.m., police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of 1085 Grand Street.
Authorities said when officers arrived, they found the victim suffering a non-life-threatening gunshot wound at that location. The victim was transported to the hospital and is expected to recover.
Elizabeth Police began searching for occupants of a red vehicle with temp tags that fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
Over in Newark, police responded to reports of an armed robbery in progress in the 100 block of Ridgewood Avenue.
Upon arrival, police located the victim, who reported being robbed by armed suspects who exited a red Alfa Romero with temp tags.
Police believe that the two incidents are connected but have not confirmed if the suspects are responsible for other felonies in both counties.
The suspects remain at large.
