Suspects Wanted for Robbing Victim of Bookbag in Newark

Newark authorities are requesting the public's assistance in identifying suspects and locating the vehicle involved in a robbery that took place on May 20.

Robbery According to a statement released by the Newark Police Department, officers responded to an incident around 5:54 a.m. in the 80 block of 16th Avenue.

The victim was waiting at a bus stop when two Black males exited a white 2017 Infiniti Q70 on Littleton Avenue and demanded his personal belongings.

Director Frage said the victim complied, handing over his bookbag containing two cell phones, debit and credit cards, and other personal items.

The suspects then fled eastbound on 16th Avenue in the Infiniti, driven by a third unknown suspect.

According to Director Frage, the vehicle, which is owned by SaJadah May Hodge, had a temporary license plate (C070959) and was captured on surveillance video returning to the 100 block of 7th Street.

Hodge is wanted for questioning, and the vehicle has been flagged as a felony vehicle.

The first suspect is described as a Black male with a medium build who is wearing black clothing, a yellow traffic vest, and a face mask.

Director Frage described the other suspect as a Black male with a heavy build, wearing a black hoodie, tan pants, and a face mask.

On May 28, 2024, the driver was observed outside the vehicle in the 400 block of Central Avenue.

The vehicle has also been spotted in the area of Avon Avenue and Irvine Turner Boulevard.

Newark Police urge anyone with information regarding the suspects or the vehicle to come forward.
