Suspects wanted for Paterson Shots Fired Chased into Irvington Township

A shots fired incident that occurred in Paterson overnight ended after a pursuit that had police surround the vehicle in Irvington Township.

Details regarding the incident are developing, but according to preliminary reports, Paterson police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of Spruce and Market streets at around 2:30 a.m.

Police began a pursuit of a vehicle only described as a Volkswagen Passat that sped away from the scene after gunfire erupted.

The driver of the vehicle sped onto NJ-19 then the southbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway where it reportedly exited at 145 in East Orange and continued to lead Paterson and NJ State police on a high speed through several Essex County neighborhoods.

Police were able to catch up with the vehicle in the 300 block of Vermont where there were reports of one person placed under arrest.

Passaic County authorities are also investigating reports of a police-involved shooting that may have occurred during this incident.

There were no serious injuries reported as details continue to develop.
