Suspects Steal Dog During Newark Armed Robbery

Newark

A Friday evening armed robbery that occurred in Newark's North Ward has police searching for two men who took a dog from the victim during the interaction.

According to reports, the incident happened at around 9:30 p.m. in the vicinity of North 6th Street and 3rd Avenue where the victim was in the area walking a dog when two males exited a vehicle and approached armed with at least one gun.

The men reportedly ordered the victim to be quiet, then demanded money and other personal possessions from him. When the victim declined to have anything, the suspect began to shove, physically assault, and search through the victim's pockets; all while he cooperated with the assailants.

According to the report, when the suspects determined that the victim did not have cash, they began to walk away but quickly returned and took the victim's dog.

The dog is a Teacup Yorkie with a gray body, brown hair, an uneven haircut, and brown paws.

The suspects -only described as black males- are wanted for at least two other robberies of individuals in the North Ward on Friday night including an incident where they approached a man in the 800 block of North 8th Street and took a wallet from the victim before fleeing the scene on foot.
