Newark police have detained two suspects believed to be involved in a shots fired incident in the city’s Central Ward on Monday night.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of Avon Avenue and South 16th Street.
A ShotSpotter device alerted officers to the gunfire, prompting a swift response to the area.
Upon arrival, police found evidence of gunfire but, after a thorough search, reported no injuries.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
