Newark Police are on the search for several suspects who are wanted for a crash that ended in an armed carjacking in the city's upper West Ward Sunday afternoon.
According to a preliminary investigation, police were called to the vicinity of Abinger Place and Sanford Avenue at approximately 1:10 p.m., to investigate reports of a hit and run crash that occurred at that location.
Upon arrival, the victim reported to police that a pickup truck, occupied by several suspects, struck his silver minivan.
When the victim exited the vehicle, the suspects pulled out a baseball bat in an attempt to attack, then jumped into his vehicle according to reports.
Both vehicles sped away from the scene.
The victim's minivan has a reported NJ license plate number "K99-KAA".
There were no injuries reported.
