Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of Louis Vasquez, 49, of Bronx, New York on charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Fentanyl, Identity Theft, and Providing False Information to Law Enforcement.
According to police, on Feb. 13th, pursuant to a narcotics investigation, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office conducted a motor vehicle stop of Vasquez’s vehicle in the area of Englewood.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed 5 kilograms of suspected Fentanyl in an electronically operated aftermarket hidden compartment, as well as $5,938.00 in suspected drug proceeds.
As a result of the investigation, police arrested Vasquez and charged him with one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, one count of Uttering a False Government Document, and one count of Impersonation; Theft of Identity.
Officials said Vasquez was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing scheduled for Feb. 16th.
Acting Prosecutor Calo states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
