Newark authorities are reaching out to the public for help identifying a suspect involved in a theft incident on February 21, where a victim's wallet was stolen from his vehicle.Police said the crime took place around 11:56 a.m. at the intersection of William and Halsey streets, a busy area where the victim had parked his car.
Upon returning to his vehicle, the victim discovered the passenger side front window shattered and a brick resting on the front seat - a clear sign of forced entry.
According to police, surveillance footage from the scene captured the suspect in the act of entering the vehicle and taking the victim's wallet.
The suspect is characterized as a male with a brown complexion and a thin build, distinctively dressed in all black - including a jacket, face mask, hooded shirt, pants, and boots - and topped with a multi-color frizzy style hat.The Newark Police Division has established a 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477) for the public to share any leads or information.
Director Fragé reassures the public that all tips provided through the Crime Stoppers line will remain confidential and could potentially lead to a reward.
