Suspect Wanted for South Ward Robbery

Authorities are searching for a suspect involved in an armed robbery that took place in Newark’s South Ward, according to information released by the Newark Police Department.  

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. stated that the incident occurred on Wednesday, December 11, at approximately 6:17 p.m.

A male suspect reportedly approached the victim from behind near Hedden Terrace and Clinton Avenue, brandishing a firearm and announcing a robbery.  AdBefore fleeing into Mildred Helms Park, the suspect assaulted the victim.

The victim’s condition was not immediately disclosed.  

Director Miranda has urged anyone with information that could help identify the suspect to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). 

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the suspect.
