Newark Police seeks the public’s help with identifying a man wanted in connection with a theft that occurred on September 2.
Police say the suspect while riding a bicycle, was captured on surveillance video taking a cellphone from the victim, who flagged down police officers at Adams and Lafayette streets at approximately 1:05 p.m.
Police say the victim told officers that the suspect took the phone while she was sitting down on the front steps of a home at that intersection.
While detectives investigating this incident are seeking the public’s help in quickly identifying this suspect, Director Ambrose urges anyone with information about the individual to call the Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
