Authorities in Newark request the public’s help with identifying the suspect, who robbed a liquor store at gunpoint of $400 on March 25.
Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said police responded to the commercial robbery, which occurred at approximately 9:26 p.m. at New Silver Key Liquor Store, located in the 200 block of Broadway.
Officials stated that the suspect, captured on surveillance video, walked into the store and behind the counter brandishing a weapon.
He demanded that the manager take money from the cash register and put it in a bag he was carrying, officials said.
According to officials, after the manager complied, the suspect, a Black male wearing a ski mask, ran from the store, heading north on Broadway toward the Broadway Townhouses.
He was wearing black pants, officials say, a black jacket with a grey hooded sweater, and white and grey shoes.
Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
