Suspect Wanted for Christmas Day Theft in Newark

Newark authorities are asking for assistance in identifying a suspect captured on surveillance video stealing tools and an electric scooter from an apartment building on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024.  

According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr., the theft occurred around 8:30 p.m. in the basement storage room of the Indigo Residence, located on the 800 block of Mayor Kenneth A. Gibson Boulevard.  

The suspect was seen on video removing the stolen items, loading them onto an elevator, and exiting the building.

He then placed the items into a waiting taxi before leaving the scene.  

Director Miranda Sr. has urged anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS.

All tips will remain confidential as the investigation continues.
