Suspect Wanted for Assaulting Newark Ironbound Salvation Army Worker During Shoplifting Incident

Newark Police officials are asking for the public's help in identifying a female suspect in a robbery at a business on Wednesday, May 15.AdAccording to a statement released by Police Director Frage, officers responded to a call at approximately 4 p.m. at the Salvation Army Thrift Store & Donation Center, located on Pennington Street near New Jersey Railroad Avenue.

Director Frage said the suspect attempted to leave the store with $100.00 worth of merchandise without paying.

Robbery

Employees locked the doors to prevent her escape, at which point the suspect shoved a female worker, causing her to fall. The suspect then unlocked the door and fled westbound on Pennington Street.AdThe victim was transported to St. Michael's Hospital, where she is in stable condition.

Detectives describe the suspect as wearing a blue sweater, blue jeans, and a black hat. Director Fragé urges anyone with information to call the Police Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
