An early morning theft of a police vehicle in Nutley had police chase the vehicle until it crashed in Clifton according to authorities.
Police were in the area of Cathedral Avenue and Orange Street at around 9 a.m. this morning where they were called to the area after residents reported a man in the area acting suspicious and possibly attempting to steal a vehicle according to reports.
Arriving officer attempting to arrest the man who managed to break free and take control of the officer's vehicle reports said.
The suspect drove the short distance, crashing near the Passaic Avenue ramp in Clifton.
Three people were reportedly being treated for injuries sustained as a result of the crash.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
