Union Township police are requesting assistance from the public in identifying a suspect who allegedly detonated a smoke bomb inside a McDonald’s restaurant on Route 22 East, causing panic among patrons. According to a statement released by Union Township police officials, the incident occurred around 5:00 PM on December 26, when officers and members of the fire department responded to reports of smoke inside the restaurant.
Investigators determined that a man emerged from the bathroom and ignited a red incendiary smoke bomb, prompting diners to flee the establishment.
The suspect, who appeared to be filming the act for social media, exited the restaurant and ran to a white Audi parked outside, leaving the scene heading east on Route 22.

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the individual responsible for the incident, which caused damage to the restaurant’s floor.
