Police in Newark are on the search for a suspect who assaulted an officer at a location in the city on Tuesday afternoon.
According to preliminary reports, the suspect assaulted the officer in the vicinity of 15th Avenue and South 7th Street just before 4:45 p.m.
Police said the suspect then sped away in a gray four-door Nissan Altima with reported NJ license plate numbers "JBA-91L".
The officer's injuries were not reported as life-threatening.
