Police reported injuries for a suspect who jumped from a window of a home after a shots-fired incident in a section of the city's South Ward.
According to a preliminary investigation, a ShotSpotter activation alerted police of gunfire that erupted in the vicinity of 300 block of Lyons Avenue around 1:35 a.m.
Several police officers arrived in the area and looked for victims and evidence of a crime scene.
During the officer's search, they found a suspect fleeing the scene on foot and began to follow the man, who then entered a house in the 100 block of Wainwright Street.
According to police, officers set up a perimeter then made their way inside the home to search for the suspect.
Officials say that as officers intensified their search inside the house, the suspect opened a window and jumped from the third floor.
Police said the man, who suffered a head injury from the fall, was surrounded by officers then taken into custody without further incident.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital for treatment, according to police.
A gun and shell casings were recovered during the investigation, but no gunshot victims were reported.
The incident remains under investigation.
